CONFIRMED: Sadio Mane Liverpool after Bayern Munich bids rejected

Gary Lineker makes blunt Sadio Mane Liverpool prediction after Bayern Munich bids rejected

With Sadio Mane’s future set to be one of the running stories of the summer, Gary Lineker has said that it is ‘unlikely’ that the Senegalese striker would be remaining at Anfield next season.

The 30-year-old has stated his desire to leave the club this summer following six successful years on Merseyside and has been subject to interest from German giants Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are reported to have made a £30 million bid for the forward, an offer which has been rejected by Liverpool but the story is set to rumble on given Mane’s stated intention to leave.

Mane enjoyed a good season, scoring 16 goals in 34 Premier League games as the Reds pushed Manchester City all of the way in the title race. He also started in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Paris alongside Mohamed Salah who has seemingly reached a contract stalemate with the club.

Former Everton and Barcelona striker Lineker offered his verdict on both players, saying that whatever happens he will back Jurgen Klopp to resolve the situation and carry on the club’s current success. He told Sky Sports: «I think it’s very unlikely Mane will stay now, it seems to be a matter of time before he goes to Bayern Munich if they can agree a fee that’s what will happen.

«Salah, I don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes but they’re two huge players if they lose them both in the same summer or Salah in a year’s time but who knows. Klopp’s done it, he’s built this team from not much, already he’s got in Jota – who’s been brilliant – Diaz, who’s been unbelievable… he’s (Klopp) so smart.

«Every team will miss players of that quality if they leave.»

DEAL CLOSED: Liverpool reach agreent to availability of Bayern Munich No.7, he will join

Liverpool alerted to potential availability of Bayern Munich No.7

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly among a growing list of sides keeping tabs on Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry amid his contract stand-off with Die Roten.

The German has made more than 150 appearances for his team – scoring 53 times – since signing from Arsenal six years ago for a fee of just £5 million.

He has established himself as an important player for the Bundesliga giants, netting at least ten goals in each of his campaigns at the Allianz Arena.

Gnabry has been in discussions with his club over an extension for several months but Sky Germany report the two sides are currently some way apart when it comes to figures.

It is claimed he wants parity with some of his teammates including former Manchester City attacker Leroy Sane, having hit 12 goals and provided seven assists in 27 matches this season.

With his long-term future the subject of much speculation, the latest reports in Germany say the Reds, the Red Devils, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all watching the situation and could make swoops this summer.

Gnabry would prefer to stay at Allianz Arena and manager Julian Nagelsmann is desperate to retain his services.

The head coach recently said: ‘I would wish for nothing more than that he would extend [his stay at Bayern].’

FREE SIGNING: Liverpool free transfer for £63m Bayern Munich man makes sense as Klopp on 'red alert'

Liverpool free transfer for £63m Bayern Munich man makes sense as Jürgen Klopp on ‘red alert’

Liverpool have only just signed one winger in Luis Díaz, who arrived for a fee of £49m, but it has not taken them long to get linked with a move for another one.

A contract ‘stand-off’ with Bayern Munich has seen Serge Gnabry put into the conversation for a move to Liverpool, with the Reds and Manchester United both said to be on ‘red alert’ for the player.

At the end of this season, Gnabry will have been at Bayern for four years. Since leaving Arsenal and being deemed not good enough for West Brom by Tony Pulis, he has netted 59 goals in 154 games for the Bundesliga side, provided 44 assists, and helped them win three Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokals and the Champions League.

This season, only Robert Lewandowski has scored more than Gnabry’s 12 for Bayern and the winger is still only 26.

Yet so far, Bayern Munich have not been able to agree a new contract, and with 18 months left on his current deal (the same amount as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino), Sky Germany are reporting that some of the top clubs around Europe are circling.

As well as Liverpool and Manchester United, Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be waiting in the wings to pounce if they do not tie Gnabry down to an extension before the end of the campaign.

«I would wish for nothing more than that he would extend,» Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann recently said about Gnabry’s contract situation.

The player, valued at £63m by Transfermarkt, is said to be demanding similar terms to Bayern’s other wingers, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané, to stay, with the pair reportedly earning around £200,000-per-week, which would be within Liverpool’s price range.

Replacing Sadio Mané, say, with Gnabry in the summer of 2023, when both players would be able to move on for no transfer fee, could make a lot of sense for Liverpool and lessen the blow of losing the Senegalese.

By then, he would be just about to turn 28, while Mané will be a few months into being 31.

Clearly, planning that far ahead is difficult and much could change between now and the summer after next, but there will be cost-effective ways of continuing the succession plan within the Liverpool attack, and Gnabry proves it.

Either this summer or the one after, he could be available, and as a younger winger who still has something to prove in English football, he could well fit the bill.
