Liverpool are close to finalising a transfer for Celtic to bring teenage attacking midfielder Ben Doak to the club, with the Reds needing to pay a compensation fee for the 16-year-old’s services should the deal go through.
Anfield sources have stressed to the ECHO that the deal is not complete yet but there is plenty of excitement at the prospect of adding another talented teen to an ever-expanding roster within the youth ranks at the club.
He will follow a pattern of players in those forwards areas being targeted by Liverpool, following in the footsteps of Harvey Elliott, Kaide Gordon, Melkamu Frauendorf, Bobby Clark, Mateusz Musialowski and others, as Matt Addison reports.
