Don't agree with Stevie here. More often than not, he lays it down to defensive issues. But here as he himself said, they had a half dozen chances and still couldn't capitalize. Plus it came down to this game after all their poor defense, it was still in their hands and they couldn't capitalize on their chances. It was bottling, pure and simple.

They lost out on goal difference only!!! Not but points or most wins!!!! Bayern are not the power German club they were before, other European clubs are getting stronger, better and have much more funds than them!!! Some of the players aren't good enough and they have no natural forward!!!! They will find it much tougher in the UEFA champions league next season than this year. The other clubs know how to counter them, they have 2 bogey teams, one in Europe and one at home!!!
There was a few tactical mistakes by Dortmund in this game against Mainz!!! But they were big tactical mistakes, once i saw their lineup before the match!!!! Terzic should have put his strongest lineup against Mainz even if they were 60 to 80% fit, he left 2 very important players till the 2nd half, club captain Reus and midfield powerhouse Bellingham!!!!! He should have played Modeste instead of Haller because of his quicker mobility and physical strength especially in the air!!!! Mainz would have had much difficult time handling in defense and midfield because they would have to mark both Reus and Modeste in the 6yard box trying to copy with the midfield with Bellingham leading, he is a 3-fold midfielder in 1!!!!! He is like Roy Keane, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard all in one!!!
