I felt it was a little more straightforward than you describe. Bayern huffed and puffed a bit. Akanji is a time bomb set to go off in Madrid, and the usually excellent Ake was ruined by Coman, to be fair. Grealish was excellent, I thought, and deserved MOTM. KDB got it, go figure.
Our game plan was sound and I think we evaluated Bayern well in that their threat is not actually that significant this season; 1 absurd penalty in 3 hours of football speaks volumes. We destroyed them at The Etihad.

I agree with your comments at the end, we were very easy to get at and our attack wasn't as useful as it needed to be. A better opponent, one who finish their chances at the first attempt (Real Madrid) will cause us much more problems if we play like that.
