I hear a lot of City fans (?) talk about how Alvarez’s second season would be great and Pep supposedly got some secret big plan for him. I’m sorry but it’s delusional. The fact is, as long as Haaland stays, Alvarez won’t get a fair chance. And right now, I don’t see any indication that Haaland would leave any time soon. No matted how we look at it, the long-term deal signed earlier this year by Alvarez was a very unwise business decision that effectively made him a hostage at City. It doesn’t even matter if Bayern, Madrid, or Barca wants him, the deal made it very hard for anyone to get him out of the club, it’s just bad business decision through and through on his end.
