A no nonsense discipline approach would be much more effective if the players weren't the most overpaid team in the league. The outrageous wage structure that united has leaves them open to this weak player mentality.

Perhaps Rob and Janusz should take notice that the City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle managers, when they want players out, the club moves them out. With United the Glazers see the deadwood as having an asset value that will take a hit when they sell them at a loss–so they don't want to sell. On top of that they overpay up front and then give them stupidly high wages, making it near impossible to move them on when the Glazers can't afford to take a loss. NONE of that is on ETH–that's on Arnold, Murtough, and of course, Joel and Avram. He is stuck with players he doesn't want and without the sales there is no money to buy players he wants. He wanted a new CB to replace Maguire (deadwood), but Murtough fails to get a deal done and the CB ends up at Bayern.. He wanted an experience striker and an understudy, but had to settle for the understudy. The Glazers won't/can't fund a relatively inexpensive midfielder and have to take him at the end of the window ON LOAN!!! The Glazers are THE PROBLEM. Perhaps Old Trafford will collapse in a heap of ruin before they sell.
Too many soft, poor quality, unmotivated, lazy players on the team. ETH must have expected significant support from the Glazers in the transfer market (buying and SELLING!!!), but has gotten very little. Only SAF could have achieved what he did last season with the group of players he had.
