Bayern created enough chances to go through but were uncharacteristically wasteful. They could and should have won by a large margin in the second leg. This is the same Villareal team that was beaten twice by United in group stages. Props to them for doing their best to come this far. Liverpool and City are on a different level continentally at the moment and are more likely to progress to finals.This may finally be Pep's year.

I was surprised by the lack of intensity shown by Bayern. Anyone can have a bad day on the pitch but there is no excusing the pedestrian way they went about things. They were dreadful too on the weekend and all the commentators were saying how they were "saving themselves for the massive game in midweek". Well, they never showed up. They needed at the very least to start fast, get into the faces of the Villareal players and show them who is boss & get their crowd pumped up.
They did none of those things and the tactics were the same as the first leg, which was so easy to defend. Really lame effort but credit to Villareal for taking advantage of it.
