The performances have been poor and Ten Hag deserves criticism. However, United sacks him it's going to have another issue: "What sane manager of any quality is going to come to United?" Ten Hag is a good manager who has been trounced by the dysfunction within the club and the personalities in the side. If your peers are getting utterly slayed at the club, no manager is going to step into that role. No manager with a proven trackrecord and quality resume is going to step in to replace Ten Hag. It's career suicide.
