Bayern Munich had won 11 straight Bundesliga titles. They’ve also won the Champions League twice in that period. They broke their transfer record by signing Harry Kane in the summer.
But not only may they not win a single trophy this season, they are a club in crisis.
Seb Stafford-Bloor outlines what’s actually happening at Bayern Munich. Illustrated by Philippe Fenner.

I think sane is the most successfull player says it all , overrated player, Huge ego not a team player .
Bayern profited from the great work of Hoeneß in the early 2010s. They were a well-run club with a good financial situation. This is no longer the case and Bayern will have to rebuild not only their squad, but also the entire management
Does it really matter that Bayern do not win anything this season ? They shouldn't have won it last season too, but the bottlejobs at Dortmund had other ideas.
They'll claim the title next season ? Who cares ? No team can sustain a challenge to Bayern. Wait and watch Leverkusen get plucked off by Europe's elites in the summer transfer window. Alonso will leave too. That is what happens when no one is capable to sustaining challenges to an authority. But hey ! "football belongs to the fans" – yeah, until you pay 90 euros to watch Frankfurt play Mainz
I didn't know Denzel from Only Fools and Horses managed Bayern Munich
It's not so much what has gone wrong, it's more how right it went for Leverkusen. Without Leverkusen gliding through the league, both Bayern's points tally and their European performances (bar the Lazio game) are alright. The DFB Pokal defeat, okay, but it's not the first time Bayern have left the cup early.
The fact that they've been so outplayed by Leverkusen in what was hoped to have been the season's turnaround match has rattled them. Too much. They should have accepted that this year Leverkusen will deservedly win the Bundesliga and concentrated on the Champions League this season. The Rome game came too early after the Leverkusen debacle so they have made a mess of it. But it's not too late to turn this tie around.
I do think that firing Brazzo was a mistake btw. He had a very good track record of signings, particularly when it comes to young players like Tel or Davies. Firing both Kahn and Brazzo, when really only Kahn had to go, after the Nagelsmann/Tuchel-saga undermined Tuchel from the get-go.
All jokes aside, Harry Kane is a fantastic footballer who absolutely deserves trophies. It's such a shame he arrived at such a storied club as Bayern in their lowest point in years, and might finish another season trophy-less. I hope England performs well at the Eutos, and that Bayern recovers next season!
Why are Tifo so slow at making videos? Now they've got to 1m + subscribers it seems they've just started taking it easy 🤷♂️
Tuchel is useless and is overrated, that's what's wrong.
While I'll be glad to finally see someone other than Bayern win the Bundesliga, as a Spurs fan I feel so bad for Kane. Guy is performing well and for once his ankles haven't completely given out mid season. But the timing couldn't have been worse it seems. Hopefully whatever manager they get next doesn't turn the entire team against him.
Short answer: Harry Kane
(Tottenham Curse)
All jokes aside, I think its a structural issue that's costing Bayern atm
In the end, it could still be a good thing for Germany 🇩🇪 and their domestic football. It’s been the most predictable league for 12 years, another champion that plays with the type of identity Alonso has is good for the league; different ideas 💡 & styles that can win titles.
Tuchel is the worst man manager of all time.
But hes german u think it would have been the perfect mix
Tuchel is a bum.
It all started when they sacked Nagalsmenn last season for no reason.
If you could name 6 tactical trends currently in world football that you think football fans should know about what would they be?
What's actually gone wrong is Bayern signing Harry Kane
The structure and Bayern's financial muscle has made the Bundesliga uncompetitive. Both within and outside. Imagine winning a league with 71 points ! .11 years of championship. Bayern buys off all the talent in the league cannibalising the league and players move cause they know the only way to win the European title is through Bayern.
The coach & the club doesnt match like Jose & utd
Bayern Hotspur
Hopefully Xabi Alonso doesn't go there this summer. It'd be a massive mistake, as seen with Nagelsmann and Kovac, Bayern aren't a side for younger developing managers.
Forca Bayer Levekusen, it's nice to see someone nit named Bayern Munich win the German league and Neverkusen finally about to ditch that painful monicker
Signing Harry Kane and Eric Dier
FC Bayern Hotspurs
People blaming Kane for this despite the fact he is the highest goal scorer in Europe are ridiculous and show how social media has negatively impacted football opinions.
Bayern next season: buy xabi and whole leverkusen starting 11 😒
Bayern have a coaching & board problem. The players are not necessarily the issue.
The club just needs to be proactive like they've been for years.
Tuchel is an overrated coach. He had a lot of those no shot games at Chelsea
Bayern Munich : A club which would never suffer a downfall
Sorry but inconveniencing in Europe? They played well at the group stage. It's just the Lazio game and that came after the bad series started.
Oh no! The twelve year stranglehold on the title may end! Whatever will those poor poor Bayern fans do! Only 12 in a row? Humiliating!
Obviously it's Harry Kane!?
There's always a
buttbot in the comments section..Funny how losing the league for first time in more than a decade is widely considered a crisis for Bayern. This shows how big and competitive Bayern's legacy is
Most teams would die for having these kind of crisis
Bottles gonna pop
As an American, jokes and memes about Tottenham and Harry Kane aside, it's actually super refreshing to see someone other than Bayern win. Just the fact Bayern wins every year makes the Bundesliga unwatchable. It's very refreshing to see Leverkusen so close to finishing the race. I've had European expats as coworkers and they wanted to gauge my interest in watching UEFA leagues, and France, Spain, Italy, and Germany just don't have the same parity as England did until recently. Imagine my surprise when they told me that Serie A was the top league in the 90s. All I've ever known has been Juventus every single year.
Bring back Hansi Flick!
